Regular Grants
The Grants Committee has a broader focus than the other funding programs in that it awards fund to Greater Hartford area (see Geographical Areas Served) programs which benefit the elderly, youth, disabled, and the disadvantaged for up to $20,000. To be eligible for a grant, a non-profit organization must complete a detailed application and clearly indicate its need for specific funding.
Grants must be disbursed within a 12 month period. Organizations who are awarded grants may not apply for another grant for 24 months following the date of membership approval or receipt of last installment of grant, if applicable. (see Grantmaking Information below)

Hartford, CT 06103
Application Deadline is March 31, 2010. We are unable to accept applications via Fed Ex, UPS or any other mail service that requires a signature.
Children's Fund (not available during 2010)
The Children's Fund Committee awards three to five grants annually with a minimum amount of $50,000, with an annual budget totaling between $200,000 and $400,000. Funds are awarded to non-profit organizations with programs designed to improve the health, education, and welfare of children aged infant through seventeen in the Greater Hartford Area. The Children's Fund committee consists of nine standing members and three at-large Jaycees, two of which may not be members of any Boards of Directors or the Travelers Championship Executive Committee. The application process begins with a one page letter of intent due at the end of December. The letters of intent are reviewed, finalists are given a request for proposal and asked to make a presentation to the Committee. Decisions are announced in the spring and awards are publicized at the Travelers Championship. (see Grantmaking Information below)
PLEASE NOTE: The Jaycees will not be awarding Children's Fund grants during 2010.
Scholarships
On behalf of the Greater Hartford Jaycees Foundation, I would like to introduce 2010 Scholarship Program. Administered by the Vice President of Scholarships, the scholarship program is an opportunity for students from the Greater Hartford community to apply for tuition assistance. Please check back in early March 2010 for application deadlines.
For further information or questions, please contact Shaun Sheridan, Foundation President, at ssheridan@whcpa.com.
Special Projects
This funding area oversees the direction of unusual or special funding programs that do not fall under any of our other funding area's. It's focus area is open (see Grantmaking Information below) and has no minimum or maximum awards, amounts vary per grant, based on the program and the Foundation budget in relation to the proceeds from the Tournament. To be eligible for a grant, a non-profit organization must complete a detailed application and clearly indicate its need for specific funding. Applications will be received at any time. Currently Special Projects funds the following events/programs: the Foundation Super Bowl in January (a bowl-a-thon where Foundation selects several recipient organizations and designates funds based on participants points system) and the Long Drive Competition in April. Special Project oversees other programs like Jaycee Youth Soccer (over 20 years) and Jaycee TD Banknorth Baseball, continuing commitments that reapply annually for funding. In 2000, we awarded a Half Million ($500,000) Special Grant to Riverfront Recapture to build the Greater Hartford Jaycee Boathouse.
